High school + College Cap and gown pictures are the final keepsake of senior year.

THESE 5 TIPS WILL HELP YOU SHINE BRIGHT IN YOUR CAP AND GOWN PICTURES

1\ SO IMPORTANT… PRESS OR STEAM THE GOWN!

Might seem obvious right? But so many graduates pull out the gown on graduation day and not a moment before. You only have one high school graduation…Make an imPRESSion!

Don’t tarnish this memory with a wrinkled gown. It makes a huge, unwrinkled, stunning, difference in your photos.

  • Use a cool iron or hang up + steam the wrinkles out
  • Nervous about scorching? Iron with a pillowcase over the gown
  • Iron as normal on a low heat setting without laying a cover over the top {Graduation gown material is traditionally a thin or silk-like material.}

2\ ADD YOUR KIND OF SHINE TO YOUR CAP PICTURES

Decorated caps are allowed at the college level, but not all high school’s let graduates jazz up their caps for the ceremony. In my cap and gown mini sessions if you have a cap creation bring it along and we will definitely use it in your photoshoot This is about FUN + showcasing your personality.

Traditional cap & gown pictures are important, but infusing your personality into a few shots shows how you shine!

3\ BRING AN EMERGENCY KIT

Not like a 9–1–1 emergency, but more a plan-ahead-in-case-that-Chicago-wind-swirls-up emergency.

Bring these pieces to your portraits + the graduation ceremony::

  • Bobby-pins to hold your cap on {swirling winds-n-all}
  • Pop-dots to keep that tassel in its place {they’re stringy-they’re floppy so help-um stick together}
  • Lip gloss/stick or chapstick {no-no-no dry/cracked lips}
  • Baby wipes for any unexpected slips {with the lipstick, something on the cap or gown…}

4\ COLLEGE ‘T’ TO WEAR UNDER THE GOWN TO “REVEAL” YOUR NEXT CHAPTER

If you know where you’re hanging your hat after high school + have purchased some college swag already…Do a big reveal! Even if everyone already knows it’s fun to have photos for your high school senior album.

5\ ENJOY EVERY LAST MOMENT AND HAVE IT DONE FOR YOU

Getting cap and gown pictures professionally taken gives everyone a chance to ENJOY! As a senior photographer I take the stress and run-around away so the family can enjoy these last fleeting days of high school or college. We take your cap and gown pictures BEFORE graduation day and now you can all relax and enjoy the ceremony.
